On Monday (07/02/07) at approximately 6:00 AM, break-ins were discovered at two downtown businesses in Clayton.
Unknown person(s) had entered Pittman’s Jewelers of 400 E. Main Street by breaking a window and miscellaneous jewelry valued at $30,000 was stolen. At the same time, Clayton Before & After Care at 404 E. Main Street was found to have been entered through the ceiling and two PlayStation games, and two Gameboys having a total value of $645 had been stolen. Investigating officers recovered a quantity of jewelry behind the store toward the railroad area, and the PlayStations and Gameboys were all recovered abandoned nearby as well.
The investigation by Clayton Police Detectives led to two suspects that live in the area. Additional jewelry was recovered by investigators during the course of the investigation.
Detective Lieutenant John Parker secured warrants on Thursday (07/05/07) on two individuals for Breaking & Entering & Larceny at both businesses. Daniel Clifford Freeman (19) and Sean Kelly Porter (18) are being sought on the Clayton charges as well as unrelated charges by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Department.

The assistance of the public is requested in locating Freeman and Porter, who were last known to stay at 2050 Ackerman Road near Garner in Wake County. Anyone knowing their whereabouts is asked to contact the Clayton Police Department or their local 9-1-1 center. A reward is offered for information leading to their arrests.
