 Clayton Police assist Raleigh Police Department | December 23, 2010 
Clayton Police deployed tire deflation devices and successfully flattened two tires of the eastbound vehicle as it entered the town limits near Shotwell Road.  Clayton officers assisted Raleigh PD in arresting the driver. Read more here.

 Raleigh Man Arrested on Felony Drug Charges| December 22, 2010 
On Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 2:55 am Clayton Police Officers J.J. Brantley and O.P. Phillips seized 78.5 grams of marijuana from a vehicle during a traffic stop on South Robertson Street near Hwy 70 Business. Read more here.

Clayton Man Arrested for Selling Drugs | December 17, 2010 
On December 17, 2010 at 9:47am  the Clayton PD Selective Enforcement Team along with members of the VICE Unit executed a search warrant on a home located at 540 North O’Neil Street in Clayton and arrested one suspect. Read more here.

McIntosh Earns Advance Certification | December 13, 2010

Lunger promoted to Lieutenant | December 8, 2010 
Kenneth L. Lunger, Jr. has been promoted to Lieutenant as of December 4, 2010.  Lieutenant Lunger is a seven-year police veteran, serving with the Selma PD before joining the Clayton Police Department. Read more here.

2 Men Arrested for Breaking and Entering | November 20, 2010 
On Tuesday, November 16th, at 11:22am, Clayton Police responded to a 911 call at 309 Robin Lane.  The caller related she observed a man actively attempting to break-in the back door of her residence. Read more here.

3 Teens Charge with Aggravated Assault | November 12, 2010 
Clayton Police have charged a third suspect with felony Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury in the November 6th incident.  Joshua Carpenter (18) of 845 Parkridge Drive, Clayton, NC was arrested. Read more here.

Traffic Stop results in DWI, Drugs and Gun Charges | November 5, 2010 
On Wednesday, 03 November 2010 at 11:15am Officer M.C. Phillips was on directed patrol for traffic violations when a vehicle failed to heed a stop sign. Once the police vehicle blue lights were activated - the vehicle failed to stop. Read more here.

Garner Man Arrested for Burglary | November 4, 2010 
On Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 8:30 pm, Clayton Police responded to a burglar alarm at Copper Elementary School.  Officers found that a mobile classroom had been illegally entered, but nothing was missing. Read more here.

Garner Man Arrested after scanning prescription | July 28, 2010

Smithfield Man (Luis Perez) IN CUSTODY | August 2, 2010 
On Friday - June 25, 2010 Clayton Police were called to 322 East Stallings Street for the report of an assault and kidnapping. The resident reported an ex-boyfriend (Luis Perez) approached her and pointed a handgun at her. Read more here. 

Clayton Man Arrested | Statutory Rape | June 24, 2010 
Clayton Police were called to Johnston Memorial Hospital where a 14-year-old girl reported she had been involved in sexual relations with two adults.  The offenses occurred in late May, early June. Read more here.

 Smithfield man arrested on Fraud Charge | June 10, 2010 
On Wednesday, June 9, 2010 a local business (Allstate Insurance Co.) reported a fraud. The victim stated an known individual was soliciting money to place business and/or commercial ads on placemats for a local restaurant. Read more here.

Alister Lee Vines, 36, of 1105-C S. Lombard Street was arrested on June 8th by Wake County Sheriff's Department on a Clayton Police felony warrant for Assault with a Deadly Weapon - Inflicting Serious Injury. Read more here.

Juvenile Charged in Structure Fire UPDATE | May 26, 2010 
The Office of the District Attorney has voluntarily dismissed charges against a 13-year old juvenile awaiting adjudication in the arson fire that destroyed a day care building under construction.  A second juvnile has been charged. Read more here.

$20,000 REWARD in Arson Cases | May 16, 2010 
The Clayton Police Department, in conjunction with Clayton Crime Stoppers and the State Bureau of Investigation are offering a total reward of $20,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arsons. Read more here.

Attempted Child Abduction Report UNFOUNDED | April 19, 2010 
On Friday April 16, 2010, Clayton Police released information regarding a report of a “possible attempted abduction”. Further investigation tends to indicate this alleged attempted abduction did not occur. Read more here

On Friday, April 9, 2010 the Clayton Police Department was notified that authorities with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office located Brandon Earl Greenwood shortly after 5:30 pm and taken into custody. Read more here.

2 Arrested for trafficing Oxycodone | March 24, 2010 
On Tuesday, 23 March 2010 Clayton Police Detectives arrested two individuals for selling narcotics.  For both offenders, the felony drug transactions involved the sale of Oxycodone. Read more here.

Officer Returns to the CPD from Deployment | March 26, 2010 
Officer Ryan Johnson served with the National Guard in Iraq and returned home and is now back serving the citizens of Clayton.  As Americans we are both proud and thankful for his dedication and service to our country.

On Sunday, March 14, 2010, Clayton Police were called to a reported vandalism at 218 West Barnes Street.  The investigation lead to the arrest of two subjects on multiple chartes. Read more here.

Clayton Man Arrested on Drug Charges| March 11, 2010

Kevin Pruden was promoted to the rank of Sergeant effective last week. Sergeant Pruden is a 14 year police veteran - serving with the Elizabeth City Police and Smithfield Police before joining the Clayton Police in 2006.

Convenience Store Robbed | February 15, 2010 
Clayton Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect in a robbery at the Handee Hugo convenience store (11928 US Highway 70 Business).   The report was made on 14 Feb 2010 just after 11:30 pm. Read more here

Assistance Needed with Vandalisms| February 8, 2010 
On Tuesday, February 2, 2010 Clayton Police Officers were called to 3145 Vinson Road (Powhatan Elementary School) for a report of avandalism.  Officers arrived to find someone had set the interior of a school bus on fire. Read more here,

Collision Involving Emergency Vehicle | February 19, 2010 
On 2-18-10 at 6:27 pm the Clayton Fire Department were responding to a structure fire on Stallings Street.  A Fire Department Support Vehicle (2008 Ford Explorer) operated by Division Chief Jason Dean was responding north on Lombard Street with red lights and siren activated.  A 1995 Cadillac operated by Eldred McLaurin (82) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, entered Lombard Street from Hamby Street into the path of the Fire Department vehicle.  The two vehicles collided causing approximately $5500 damage to the Fire Department vehicle and $5000 to the Cadillac. Both drivers were treated and released at Wake Med for minor injuries.

Thefts of Heating and AC Units | February 2, 2010 
Over the past several weeks, there have been five thefts and three attempted thefts of ground-mounted heating/air conditioning units or parts of those units. The thieves appear to be removing the tops to gain access. Read more here.

The two suspects wanted in the November 2009 Breaking and Entering on Waterford Drive have been arrested after voluntarily surrendering at the Clayton Police Department on 21 January 2010. Read more here.
